I’ve had a bit of an on-off relationship with skincare gadgets. I’m partial to a good jade roller session when I’m hungover or suffering from stress-induced headaches (the cooling effect certainly helps to take the edge off) and I – like many of you, I’m sure – have dabbled in the world of facial cleansing brushes.. which I fell out of love with rather quickly, thanks to the harshness of something so addictive.
My curiosity peaked again when I received a LUNA Play device almost a year ago now. The size of a cotton pad, it slotted into my skincare effortlessly – its sonic technology massaging product into the skin, gently exfoliating and helping to soften and decongest the complexion. It was so fun to use and super easy to throw into a holdall or suitcase – the only downside? Its lifespan of 100 uses, meaning it would have to be disposed of after a few short months. I was in two minds about giving it a write-up as that part of it annoyed me, so I couldn’t be happier that there’s now a LUNA Go, with added anti-aging benefits and the ability to hold up to 30 days’ worth of charge at a time (USB included). Perfect!
I have the pink device, designed for those with normal skin (whatever that is) – the soft silicone bristles paired with the sonic vibrations feel great on the skin and work hand in hand to eliminate dirt and boost circulation. 99% of the time I use it with a balm cleanser – Sunday Riley Blue Moon is my favourite – massage the product into the skin with my hands and let the gadget get to work for a minute. I’m keen to try out different types of cleansers with the device but old habits die hard! After using this, my skin feels softer than ever and seems more ready for whatever skincare I use post-cleanse. I’ve not tried the anti-aging mode out enough yet to comment, but it feels great after applying an oil in the evenings. |
The LUNA go is incredibly easy to look after – to clean, just rinse with hot water and pat dry with a towel. Sometimes I give it a scrub with a hot flannel but all in all it’s extremely low-maintenance. The device is entirely waterproof too, despite all appearances! No need to worry as you cleanse, but I still wouldn’t take it for a dip in a hurry..
£85 for the Go – compared to £29 for the Play – seems like a steep price for such a tiny thing, but it will last you forever as there’s no need to repurchase batteries or brush heads. I will say it hasn’t replaced the humble flannel in my routine, but has nestled itself in alongside brilliantly. Great for gym bunnies, frequent travellers and general beauty/skincare addicts alike.
